Dear Shettleston Smile Patients,
First Minister Nicola Sturgeon has today announced that dentists in Scotland can start to reopen as of this Monday, June 22nd.
This was not announced to members of the dental profession prior to the First Minister’s statement!
We have just received clarification from the Chief Dental Officer that we can reopen only Once all quality assurances and risk assessments have been finalised to allow for a safe return to the workplace for staff; and for patients to be treated safely!
It has also been made very clear that we will be restricted by the following three conditions:
1- URGENT dental treatment Only!!
2- Treatment NOT involving Aerosol- Generating Procedures (AGP’s)- This means we cannot offer treatment that would involve the use of a drill, water/air spray or ultrasonic scaler.
3- Only Treatment for patients who have NOT tested positive for CoVid 19, are NOT showing symptoms of CoVid 19 and have NOT been in contact with anyone who has tested positive or showing symptoms of CoVid 19.
We are still available during business hours on 0141 7783016 to offer advice and necessary referrals for urgent care.
Please do NOT call to try to arrange routine appointments at this stage!
We will update you further with signs outside the practice, the answering machine message, the website; and as soon as we are prepared and had the green flag from Greater Glasgow & Clyde Healthboard for Reopening for limited procedures we will let you know.
